Z day 2013
Our last Letter of the Day Summer activity for this year was a trip to the Tulsa Zoo
with lots of friends.
T noticed the "z" in chimpanZee
and that the lions were being rather laZy.
Guess how many zebras we saw.
Yep. Zero. (This happened for LotD 2010, too.)
dinner = Zio's. T & E ate ziti; J ate pizza.
This being Oklahoma, we passed through a Work Zone or two on the roads.
J played Legend of Zelda.
We worked on a puzzle.
bedtime story = Roller Coaster by Liz Garton Scanlon, illustrated by Marla Frazee (another all-time favorite)
"The train zips!" "It zooms!" And some of the people who ride get dizzy.

F day 2013
This Friday morning we went to middle school orientation. The kids met up with some friends.
There are flags on the stage in the PAC.
T found his locker... and some funny fish stickers in the bottom!
G played an app with fields on a farm.
We went to the Merritt's Bakery location on fifteenth street, in Florence Park. (If our vehicle hadn't been full, we would have taken more friends!)
H & E had Fritos with their lunch. (T ate Ruffles and noticed today's letter in the middle.)
S ate a fruit tart, one of her favorites!
We went by Toni's Flowers & Gifts...
where they gave us a few for free!
T, H, & E did some flash cards and practiced their math facts.
dinner = burgers + french fries at Wendy's. And Frosties, of course! (T got a brain freeze.)
Can you see the Mary Murray's Flowers sign through the glass? Also, E wore flip flops.
G & J tossed around a football. (G is wearing his WCA Football shirt.)
E read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss.
We went to a game at OneOk Field to watch the Tulsa Drillers beat the Frisco Rough Riders.
Our seats are on the first base side, Row F.
We saw a few fly balls and force outs. After the game, there were fireworks. (E took this picture!)
There's a fences and a foul pole. Also more flip flops.
Because of this scene in The Avengers, my kids have been wanting to try shawarma
bedtime story = Fire and Stone by Ursula K. Le Guin, illustrated by Laura Marshall
(another all-time favorite!)

P day 2013
We played putt-putt at All Star Sports Complex.
E wore plaid (short) pants, pink shoes, and pig tails. (When she was little she called them "puppy ears".)
J played a little pool.
At lunch, the girls ate pickles.
We used a plasma cutter to make some sheet-metal pets.
T & J washed up in the shop with GoJo; they really like that it has pumice.
The kids watched Peter Pan and ate popcorn.
E & C put on a puppet show with a pirate and a princess.
E ate a peanut butter snack and got a pedicure. She wanted her toenails painted with an AB pattern.
dinner = pizza with NeNe (Patty) and Papa.
We went to a pool party with T's Cub Scout Pack.
I was very proud of J & E for overcoming their fear and jumping off the high dive!
bedtime story = The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch, illustrated by Michael Martchencho

Y day 2013
*yawn* It is almost time for school to start again... but it is so hard to wake up early!
T & E ate Yoplait yogurt for breakfast.
G played Guild Wars 2. "Look, Mom—I'm a yak!"
T ate a hard-boiled egg for a snack, even the yolk. (E thinks the yolk is yucky.)
The kids watched a little bit of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
just so they could see Yoda.
We went to the Y.
T played with a little yellow yo-yo.
dessert = "FroYo" (frozen yogurt) at Cherry Berry
(What?? There are some y's in those words!)
And even though we didn't go to church today, we are still "People of the Cross and the Yoke"
Jesus Christ said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
